This paper analyzes the process of making the oval latch 1200 of nominal pressure of 16 bar. The latch is a piece of metal, pipe cap, which is made in a rectangular or round shape, with the main purpose of regulatio and shut down the flow of certain substances passing system. Latches are the most widespread sealing bodies that are installed in pipelines of medium and large nominal diameters by means of flanges, threaded connectors or welding. They are small built-in length, and are suitable for all pressures. The most common division of the latch according to the form and to the following types of latches: oval, round, flat and elliptical. Oval latches forms are one of the most produced, and the difference in relation to other forms of the latch and the width and the working pressure for which is intended. It is used in systems where there is little space and it is not possible to use other forms of latch. The process of making the oval latch 1200, nominal pressure of 16 bar was observed in the Metal industry Varaždin. The main parts of the observed assembliesare housing, cap and wedge made of cast iron, and some of the technical features of oval latch is the of passage for a medium that is 1200 mm of diameter, working pressure of a latch must be capable to withstand 16 bar, the maximum operating temperature of 60 ° C, flanges drilled according to NP 16, and for a standard purpose, and that is water transportation. Engineering technologies used in the preparation of the observed assemblie are turning, milling, drilling, cutting materials, surfacing, welding and powder coating. These engineering technologies used in the production process are analyzed in more detail and explained the sequence of production activities in the development of a oval latch with a focus on making the main parts of the latch: housing, caps and pins.
